June 12 – History and Use of Boats in Minnesota

From plywood shop built “skimmers” to revolutionary fiberglass pleasure crafts, in the “Land of 10,000 Lakes”, we have determined what floats our boat. Learn about the construction, uses and evolution of the boating industry in Minnesota. This class is offered in partnership with the MN Lakes Maritime Museum.

May 22, 29 & June 20 – A View from the Lake (Pontoon Tour) with Rachel Barduson

Board a pontoon from the docks of Arrowwood for a two hour cruise, beginning on Lake Darling. History lovers will enjoy stories of how the area lakes influenced resort, recreational industry and personal lake-shore life. The view from the lakes has changed through the years and the history is fun and fascinating! This cruise includes Lakes Darling, Carlos and LeHomme Dieu.

June 24 – Hardy Perennials for Minnesota

Join us for a walking tour of the beautiful Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum Gardens. View the many plantings of hardy perennials, perfect for our own Minnesota gardens. You will follow the tour with a discussion of the many varieties of plants available, various planting instructions and after care.

Instructor:  Linda Kellerman, is a University of Minnesota Master Gardener of Douglas County.

June 30 – Garden Photography

Bring your camera to the Minnesota Lakes Maritime Museum for an evening stroll through the garden capturing images of natural beauty. The instructors will provide some basics of outdoor photography covering issues of lighting, composition, focusing, color, texture, background, and macro.

This should be a fun evening; be prepared for rain or shine.

Instructors: Van Gooch and Claudine Grove are local photography enthusiasts.
