Life Long Friends – Summer of 2014
The MLMM is very pleased to have the works of two artists on display at the Museum this summer. Ann Lauritzen Pape and Lee Webster Shaw are not only accomplished painters in their chosen medium; they are life long friends.
Ann Lauritzen Pape, who lives in Omaha, has spent every summer on Lake Miltona. Her grandchildren are the fifth generation at the Minnesouri Club. Ann has studied under various teachers at the Scottsdale Artists School in Arizona and exhibited at the Museum of Nebraska Art. Oil is her medium and her real joy is painting en plein air, painting landscapes from life, particularly the scenes around Alexandria.
Lee Webster Shaw grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and spent the summers of her youth on Lake Miltona. She is a third generation member of the Minnesouri Club and still spends part of every summer at the lake with her family. She currently lives in Los Angeles and for several years has shown her work at the Schomburg Gallery in Santa Monica. Over the years Lee has shown her work in Colorado, New York, New Jersey, Nebraska, Washington, DC, Nevada, Germany, and Los Angeles.
